Holly Karapetkova is spending the summer with the Rhodope International Theater Collective in Smolyan, Bulgaria, as literary advisor and resident artist. The Collective includes students and professionals from around the world who come together to produce a variety of collaborative projects, this year based loosely on the myth of Ragnarok. Some of this year’s collaborators include Piyal Bhattacharya, an expert in Khatakhali dance; New York based puppeteers Tom Lee and Matt Atcheson; playwright Aditi Kapil; and founder of the Baltimore Theater Project, Philip Arnault. Over the course of the Collective, Dr. Karapetkova will be lecturing on Norse literature and mythology and presenting new poetry at a series of readings.
