On Wednesday, Nov 5, D.C.-area poet Naomi Ayala will read from her work at 12 p.m. in the Barry Gallery, Reinsch Library. A innovative educator in the Latino community, Ms. Ayala has published a collection of poetry titled Wild Animals on the Moon. Her work has also appeared in a variety of publications including The Village Voice, The Caribbean Writer, The Massachusetts Review, Red River, and the Potomac Review.
She received the 2001 Larry Neal Writers Award for Poetry from the DC Commission on the Arts, the Connecticut Latinas In Leadership Award, the Trailblazer Arts Award, and the 2000 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy of Environmental Justice Award.
